What makes a girlfriend? Some think it’s simple, just a girl you can call pretty, or a girl that you can cuddle and kiss. But she’s shown me that it’s so, so much more. What makes a girlfriend is plentiful--transparency, humor, being able to talk about love and family and fears and worries and everything in between. What makes a girlfriend is being there for each other when its darkest, when its hardest, but still choosing her everyday over something “easier”, because how much you love her would never, ever let you. What makes a girlfriend is feeling safe enough with her to share those things or thoughts no one else has heard, and feeling safe enough to associate her with some of your favorite things. What makes a girlfriend is wanting to share your likes, your loves, your hates, and your life with them. What makes her is unconditional love--flaws, logistics, obstacles be damned. And though the world would never understand this unlikely union and why it still stands, someday, we’ll be set free. Free to want, free to need, free to crave, free to desire, and most importantly, free to love, there by each other’s side.

You are, without a single shadow of a doubt, the most important, most amazing, most beautiful person in my life. I know just reading that might spark some doubt--do I really mean that? I mean, the whole world is the competition right? But baby, you are my world. You're the one I can see myself with for the rest of my life, and not a single person on this Earth can come close to you.
To be honest, I never saw myself loving someone like this this soon in my life. I thought love like this was for those that had their lives together, for those that actively searched for their person. But here I am now, head-over-heels for you, and now I know that love doesn’t pick and choose. It just happens. And by God, I’m so glad it did. I couldn’t care less about the distance, about the timezones, about the fact we’re not able to be there physically for each other like we might want, I would still choose you every single day--because no one else is you, and no one will ever come close to being you.
I only ever see relationships as something serious. I would never, ever get into anything even remotely intimate with someone if my heart wasn’t 100% in it, and to be honest, I think that’s a big reason that you’re my first relationship. This whole time, I was waiting for that person I can love with all my heart, for that person that has their flaws, sure, but loving them despite these flaws is the easiest, most natural thing in the world. And that person, without a doubt, is you.
Who knows where we’ll be a year, 5 years, 10 years, 20 years from now. Hopefully we’ll be living together, whether its in New York, Europe, or wherever else life will take us. Hopefully we’ll get married and have the sweetest wedding and honeymoon either of us could ever dream of. Hopefully we’ll have that beautiful daughter I’ve always dreamed of having. And I can say “hopefully” to all of this, but in truth… this future seems so possible, so certain with you.
I love the future that we’ll have. I love how amazing, how smart, how funny, how determined, how pretty and beautiful you are. And at the core of all of it… I love you, Gabby. I love you so, so much. Never forget that, no matter how hard things might be.
